Part of the reason I support MSIA is that I think a lot about human population.

The planet is estimated to now have passed 6 billion humans. This is a great triumph–up to a point. It’s a success story of  improved health care, reduced infant mortality and expanding life spans.

But it’s also a big problem. As the population continues to increase, it puts more strain on the environment, on every nations’ ability to survive, economies to grow and society to flourish.

I realise this issue of world population is also inextricably linked to women’s rights. And, part of the solution to the human population problem, even in Australia, is increased knowledge and access to better health care, family planning and education for women. Any decline in birth-rates world-wide could help the increasing environment problems.

What is relevant though is a women’s reproductive rights and empowering women to think for themselves. I want to be part of the solution. So, in addition to the work we are doing with the School of Thinking, I support MSIA’s work in helping women to become much better thinkers when it comes to their reproductive health and welfare.
